Jan 11 – Silas Whitehead died today at his farm home near Marshall, Ill. For 56
year she was a practicing lawyer at Marshall. In 1854 he and Capt. Nathan
Willard established the Evansville Enquirer, which became the Courier. Later he
established the Eastern Illoisan at Marshall. He was born in Putnam County
Indiana in 1829.
